A cooking class in Bali is one of the best ways to experience the island beyond the beaches. Our hands-on Balinese cooking class in Ubud includes a morning market tour, rice-field walk, and cooking 10+ traditional dishes with a local chef.

A complete traditional menu — not a single adapted recipe.
Shop for ingredients at the traditional Ubud morning market.
Full plant-based menu available on request.
The best cooking classes in Bali go beyond the kitchen. A truly immersive experience starts at the local market, where you learn about ingredients you may have never seen. The rice-field walk adds a scenic cultural element. And cooking with a local Balinese chef — not a tourist instructor — ensures the food is authentic.
Our class follows this exact flow: market tour, rice-field walk, hands-on cooking of 10+ dishes, and a shared meal. Every guest leaves with a recipe booklet and the confidence to cook Balinese food at home.
Your menu includes Balinese favourites such as Sate Ayam (chicken satay grilled on coconut husk), Pepes Ikan (fish steamed in banana leaf), Ayam Betutu (slow-cooked spiced chicken), Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Dadar Gulung (pandan coconut pancake for dessert), and many more. We also offer a full vegetarian and vegan menu.
The foundation of every dish is the Base Genep spice paste — the complete Balinese spice blend that defines the flavour of Balinese cuisine. You will grind your own by hand in a traditional stone mortar.
The morning class starts at 8 AM and includes a full market tour (the highlight for most guests). The afternoon class starts at 2 PM and is perfect if you want to explore Ubud or do another activity in the morning. Both classes include the full cooking experience.
