A fully plant-based Balinese cooking class in Ubud. Cook tempe manis, tofu pepes, sayur urap and sambal matah from scratch — no meat, no compromise on flavour, just authentic Balinese vegetarian cuisine.

A complete plant-based set of 8–10 dishes, not a side adaptation.
We swap shrimp paste and egg so the full menu is vegan-friendly.
Hand-pick your vegetables and spices at the Ubud morning market.
Balinese home cooking is naturally rich in vegetables, tofu, tempeh and coconut — which makes it one of the easiest cuisines in Asia to enjoy as a vegetarian or vegan. Our class is built around a complete vegetarian menu, so you are never eating a watered-down version of the "real" class. You cook the same way a Balinese family does for a meat-free feast day.
Every dish is prepared fresh on the day from ingredients we pick together at the morning market. If you are vegan, let us know when you book and we will adjust the few dishes that traditionally use shrimp paste or egg.
Your hands-on menu includes Balinese favourites such as Sup Sayur (vegetable soup), Tempe Manis (sweet fried tempeh), Sayur Urap (vegetables in toasted spiced coconut), Kare Tahu (tofu curry), Sate Tempe with peanut sauce, and Dadar Gulung — a pandan coconut pancake — for dessert.
The heart of every dish is the Base Genep: the complete Balinese spice paste you will grind by hand. Master that, and you can recreate these flavours in any kitchen at home.
Yes. The menu is vegetarian by default and we can make it fully vegan — just tell us when you book and we will substitute the few traditional dishes that use shrimp paste or egg.
None at all. Our chefs guide you step by step, and the class suits complete beginners as well as confident home cooks.
